Leah Haley is one of the names often linked to the theme. She began within the alien-abduction field, but later considered the possibility of military involvement in some experiences. In reports from the 1990s, researchers and abductees described men in uniform and surveillance after the events.

Melinda Leslie also appears in MILAB discussions. Her account involves memories of abduction in which people with a military appearance were present during the experience. She became one of the voices that helped popularize the central question: why do some abductees remember military personnel inside scenes that should be "alien"?

Karla Turner brought another layer. In her books and interviews, she argued that some experiences could involve mental manipulation, implanted scenarios and control of perception.
