Ceres matters because it appears in several versions as a mining point, underground base or passage station. In real astronomy, Ceres is the largest object in the asteroid belt. NASA's Dawn mission photographed its surface closely and revealed bright spots inside Occator crater.

These images fed popular imagination. The spots looked strange and almost too luminous. For a while they circulated as the mystery of Ceres. Scientific explanation now points to salts left by salty liquids from internal reservoirs.
